If this is Annabelle Greene's first book, I am standing in line for the rest of her works.Quite simply, this is one of the best Regency era MM romances I have ever read and I have read almost all of them, especially by more established writers.The key to this one is the utter love that Sir Gabriel Winters and Duke Edward Stanhope have had for each other. This despite Edward having abandoned his then platonic friend when he came of age and plundered through the beds of any young man who'd be willing in London. This left Gabriel in utter despair to the extent that he made a pact with God to allow him to be have homoerotic desires without acting upon them in the small village over which he came to preside as Vicar.What brings them back together after several years in this rollicking, shocking, ribald and vicious tale is an accident of health and a convenient escape hatch--and then the other characters show up.And, wow!, are these characters incredible ranging from Edward's brother Maurice, his valet Bryce, and Gabriel's sister Caroline to the impish kid named Ginger who stumbles into their lives--and into our hearts.That's as far as I will go except to say that the series title of Society of Beasts includes several characters whose lives we are likely to follow in the months ahead. If the sneak preview of the second in the series which is provided at the end of the Kindle edition is any indication, this is going to be one heck of a wild ride through the streets of London and the English countryside.Get thee to the purchase button and have yourself a ball.
